Water lines/ pipe work NY

Water lines/ pipe work NY

Sometimes it happens that supply lines freeze, leak or burst and the drains get clogged.
This means you will need maintenance and repair. You may have felt less pressure in your shower or may have noticed that the reach on your lawn sprinkler is less. In this case the problem is in the water pressure, which means your supply lines need to be cleaned. Underneath your floor and inside your walls is a network of pipes and drains, which make up your plumbing system.

NY Plumber Service Inc NY provides the best plumbing services in NY to look after your pipes in every regard.  We will go to your residence, find out the problem in your system or diagnose a problem, which was unnoticed, and give you the option of repair or replacement.

Types of pipes

Copper pipe is the best for ½ inch and 1-inch water supply pipes and is used to connect the household sinks and toilets to the main water supply pipe.  Copper, being reliable for both hot and cold water supply, does not rust easily and is durable. This makes it very popular amongst contractors. It has only one disadvantage. If it is exposed to the elements it can freeze and burst. If the pipes are running through the outer walls they should have good insulation.

PEX tubing is stronger and more reliable even though it looks like a garden hose. Owing to its flexibility, it is easier to work with. PEX contains cross-linked polyethylene, and because of its low cost, it is increasingly being used as an alternative to copper. It was developed in the 1960s and has remained in use for decades in Europe.  In the 1980s it was introduced to the U.S.  An additional quality of PEX is that it is freeze resistant and can change its volume if the water inside freezes.

PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) pipe is used most commonly for vents and drainpipes in houses. It is durable and comes in different shapes and sizes. It has long been used for sewage piping and drainage but now it is making its place as a substitute for copper in pressurized water supply lines. It is popular with the plumbing contractors because it is cheap, resistant to root invasion and can be repaired easily.

Orangeburg, which is also called fiber conduit pipe, has been used for sewer lines from the 1860s to the 1970s. In World War II it was again used for this purpose because iron was being used in warfare. It is not popular with builders because it can be easily invaded by tree roots.

Cast iron pipes are reliable and tough. Nowadays they are more frequently used in municipal and commercial areas rather than in homes. They are resistant to corrosion and can live up to 100 years and more. Plumbers have been working with natural gas lines, water supply lines and drainage pipes made of cast iron.

Lead pipes that were once in vogue are not in use due to the emergence of lead-related diseases. It was used centuries ago because it was easy to work with. The word plumbing has its origin in the Latin word “plumdum”, which means lead. If you have lead pipes for your water supplies you need to test your water for lead levels. NY Plumber Service Inc recommends the replacement of lead pipes with some safer material. The least you can do is leave the tap on for 2-3 minutes and then use the water.

Galvanized steel pipes are also obsolete now. The problem with them is that water reacts with galvanizing material and deposits salt on the inside of the pipe. This ultimately narrows the passage and decreases the water pressure and volume of water delivered.
